Spring has sprung here in the Pioneer Valley. With plenty of watering from Mother Nature and a few warm days the woods are really starting to green up. The black flies have made an appearance and it's time to remember the Epipen with the bees coming out.
I've been keeping up the local weekly 5k XC racing and then putting in mostly longer (2:ish hr.)runs in the woods.
The hill repeats have been lacking but the woods runs have been hilly with last week totaling just over 6000' . Not much by MWV standards but acceptable for the Ct. River Valley here in Mass.
Had a good trail run with TW this morning and then ran a 5k in town here a few hours later. Todd had put the bug in me about it earlier in the week but then opted out himself. I carried the torch and went up to my first road 5k in about 2 1/2 years. I was content with the 18:52 I eked out on a rolly course.
I'm looking forward to the NE Mountain Circuit opener in Northfield on the May 21st. This year I'm torn between getting "Goat" status or going out to the Whiteface race which happens to be on the same day as Pack. I'm not out for a MWRR bypass so that doesn't factor in but there is a certain personal pride from completing the Circuit. If this is my biggest dilemma right now life is pretty good eh?
So no epics or good races to report on right now. Hopefully soon.
